No mystery, and no wandering the seawall with a cooler in each hand.
So, where do Miami yacht charters leave from?
Most Miami charters leave from four areas: Miami Beach Marina on South Beach, Miamarina at Bayside downtown, Island Gardens on Watson Island, and Crandon Park Marina on Key Biscayne. A few larger yachts are based up in Fort Lauderdale. Your boat sets the dock.
Here is the geography that makes this confusing. Greater Miami is not one waterfront, it is a string of them along Biscayne Bay, linked by causeways. South Beach, downtown, Watson Island in the middle, Key Biscayne to the south, and the Haulover inlet to the north each has its own marinas, and they sit a real drive apart in traffic. Miami Beach Marina: the South Beach default
If you are staying anywhere on South Beach, this is almost certainly you. Miami Beach Marina sits at 300 Alton Road on the southern tip of South Beach, a roughly 400 slip marina that opens straight onto Government Cut with no fixed bridges in the way. That last part matters more than it sounds. A boat leaving here clears the channel and is in open Atlantic water within minutes, no waiting on a drawbridge. It sits a short walk from the Art Deco district, the Sunset Harbour neighborhood, and a wall of restaurants, so it is easy to fold a meal or drinks around your trip. It is central, deep, and fast to the ocean.
Downtown Miami: Miamarina at Bayside
Staying in Brickell, downtown, or near the arena? You will likely leave from the water right at Bayside. Miamarina at Bayside sits inside Bayside Marketplace at the west end of Government Cut, with the downtown skyline standing right over your dock. A second marina sits just up Biscayne Bay, behind the downtown Marriott on North Bayshore Drive, and it handles a good share of the charter fleet too.
The draw here is the backdrop and the convenience. The Bayside garage puts you steps from the dock. If you arrive early, the shops and food are right there, and you are minutes from the Brickell hotels. For skyline photos at golden hour, it is hard to beat starting a downtown Miami yacht charter with the towers at your back.
Watson Island: where the big yachts live
Booked something big? Watson Island is where the large yachts live. Island Gardens, home to IGY's Yacht Haven Grande Miami, sits on Watson Island off the MacArthur Causeway, right between downtown and Miami Beach. It was built as a deep water superyacht marina with berths for vessels up to about 550 feet, which is a different category from the rest of this list.

Key Biscayne: Crandon Park Marina
For a quieter start and the fastest shot at the sandbars and reefs, Crandon Park Marina on Key Biscayne is the move. It sits at 4000 Crandon Boulevard, a Miami-Dade County public marina about fifteen minutes from downtown over the Rickenbacker Causeway, and it handles vessels up to 80 feet. This end of the bay puts you closest to the Key Biscayne sandbars, the reefs off Cape Florida, and the run down toward Boca Chita. Parking is the easy part here, since it is a big county park lot rather than a cramped city garage. Haulover and the north end
If you are up in Sunny Isles, Aventura, or Bal Harbour, or your day is really a fishing run, the north end is worth knowing. Haulover Marine Center sits at 15600 Collins Avenue between Sunny Isles and Bal Harbour, right on the Intracoastal at Baker's Haulover Inlet in North Miami Beach. It is mostly a dry storage and boating hub, and the inlet drops boats into the Atlantic in minutes.

What about Fort Lauderdale?
Fort Lauderdale is not Miami, but it comes up often enough to answer. It is the yachting capital of the region, so some of the larger charter yachts are based there, roughly thirty miles up the coast, about a 45 minute drive north. If yours does, you have two options.
We either run the boat down to a Miami marina for you, which adds delivery time and a fee, or you meet it at its home dock up north. Either way we tell you the plan before you pay, never after.
